On this private full day city sightseeing tour of the capital city of Andaman and Nicobar archipelago your exploration begins right from your doorstep. The driver/chauffeur will receive you from the lobby of your hotel as you undergo a short briefing session. You will be covering the prominent attractions of the city namely, Zonal Anthropological Museum, Chatham Saw Mill, Samudrika Naval Marine Museum, Fisheries Museum, the famous Cellular Jail, Corbyn's Cove Beach, Flag Point and also you shall witness the light and sound show in Cellular Jail.
You will be received from your hotel within the city limits of Port Blair as per your time selected.
Post pick-up you will be taking part in a short briefing session by the chauffeur. You will be visiting the top attractions in Port Blair during the tour.
First stop of the day will be the Zonal Anthropological Museum, which is a place of great importance as it displays the Aboriginal culture and the livelihood of the ingenious tribes namely Jarawas, Shompens, Sentinelese, Ongis and more. Learn about the deep history and be amazed with some of the primitive aspects of the islands. It usually takes about an hour to explore this museum.
Next stop of the day will be Chatham Saw Mill which is under the administration of Department of Environment and Forest. This 19th century saw mill is located in the Chatham Island is accessed by the Chatham Bridge from Port Blair. This was once amongst the three offices of WINCO Limited, the parent company of the famous matchstick brand Homelite Matchbox. Today, this museum display the machineries which were used in the production of the matchsticks. This museum takes 45 minutes to 1 hour to explore.
Head to the Samudrika Naval Marine Museum which is run and maintained by the Indian Navy and displays marine and aquatic life along with the replicas of the ships and machineries' used to monitor the ocean.
At this hour of the day take a break for lunch, Port Blair is diverse in cuisine you can have anything between North Indian, South Indian and Bengali cuisine, based on your choice.
Post lunch you will be visiting the Fisheries Museum which is run by the Directorate of Fisheries and is a life sized museum displaying several species of fishes and corals.
Now its the time for the prime attraction, Cellular Jail which is currently being maintained by the Department of Art and Culture. This jail was built for a sum of approximately Rs. 5,15,352 and opened in the year of 1906. One can witness the confinement and learn about the history of this Cellular Jail and its role in the struggle in the Indian independence.
Next up you will be visiting the Corbyn's Cove Beach which is nearly 7 KM from the Port Blair city centre and known for its sunsets and tranquil nature. Enroute the beach you will also be visiting the Flag Point which boasts a towering 150 feet high Indian Tricolour.
The last stop of the day will be the Light and Sound Show in the Cellular Jail, which audio-visually explains the Indian Freedom Movement for about an hour.
You may choose to spend a few hours in shopping in the city.
After the completion of the day's sightseeing in Port Blair you will be dropped back at the hotel from which you were received from.
