This trip combines the best of North and Middle Andamans, covering the key attractions of Baratang, Rangat and Mayabunder. The journey starts early in the morning with a hotel pickup from Port Blair, after which you will be taken to the Middle Strait Jetty via the Great Andaman Trunk Road. You pass through the reserve forests that are home to the Jarawa Settlements after passing the Jirkatang checkpoint. This 47-kilometer leg from Jirkatang check post to Middle Strait Jetty shall be traveled without stops in between. You will take a vehicle ferry to the Baratang Jetty, also known as the Nilambur Jetty, from the Middle Strait Jetty. At the Nilambur Jetty, you'll enter the Middle Andamans Tehsil, and the remainder of your journey promises to be thrilling. The limestone caves, which were formed over millions of years by naturally occurring water dripping down limestone rock, are accessible by boat. Once you've finished touring the caves, get back on the fiber boat and ride it to the Nilambur Jetty, from where you'll be let off to travel for an hour to the Mud Volcano.
Before making the 60-kilometer drive to Rangat, which should take two to three hours, spend some time exploring the Mud Volcano. After arriving in Rangat, spend the night in a cozy, air-conditioned accommodation. The following day, you will see Amkunj Beach, Dhaninallah Mangrove Walkway, and Morcidera Beach before being driven approximately 70–75 kilometers to Mayabunder, which should take around 2.5 hours. Spend the night in Mayabunder and then visit the German jetty and Karmatang Beach, which is well-known for being a turtle nesting location.
Prior leaving for Port Blair, make the most of your time in Mayabunder and spend as much time as possible there. The trip concludes with a drop in Port Blair.
On day 1 your journey starts with a pick-up from your hotel's lobby at around 3:30 AM in the morning. Undergo a short briefing session before starting your journey on the NH 4 or the Great Andaman Trunk Road.
After a drive of about 30 Kilometres you cross the Ferrargunj check post, continue another 15-16 kilometres on the same road to reach the Jirkatang check post where you will have to wait for about half an hour to an hour for your permits to be assigned.
We suggest you to get freshened up (if required) at the Jirkatang check post, as this point on you will be entering the reserve forests and in a convoy formation the vehicle will ply for around 40 odd kilometres without any stoppage enroute. Visitors are prohibited to get down from the vehicle during this part of the journey.
You will get to witness Jarawa Tribal individuals during this part of your journey.
This journey will come to a halt at the Middle Strait Jetty where you will be boarding a vehicle ferry to arrive at the Baratang Jetty also known as the Nilambur Jetty which is on the other side of the creek.
