A trip which takes you to the Northern and Middle shores of the Andamans archipelago in company of local islanders. The trip starts from Port Blair as you are driven on the Great Andaman Trunk Road to the Jirkatang check post which will lead to the Baratang Island via the reserve forests. This stretch of 40 odd kilometres is wonderful part of the journey where the vehicles travel in a convoy formation without any stoppage, you might get a chance to witness the Jarawa tribesmen and women on this route. Next stop of the journey will be the Middle Strait Jetty from which you shall be boarding a vehicle ferry to the Nilambur Jetty, also known as Baratang Jetty. You now have entered the Middle Andamans Tehsil as you prepare to take a fibre boat on a sharing basis to the Limestone Caves. These caves have formed over a period of millions of years with slow drippings of water on the Limestone Rocks, the caves glimmer as the water shines on them. Post the limestone caves tour return back to the Baratang Jetty and break for lunch. Post lunch you will be driven to the Mud Volcano, explore the natural wonder before heading to Diglipur via Rangat. The drive to Diglipur will be of around 6.5 hours and you will be staying overnight in Diglipur.
On the next day you will be visiting the Ross and Smith Island from the Aerial Bay Jetty in Diglipur along with the Kalipur Beach which is a well known turtle nestling centre. Head to Rangat post lunch and continue the sightseeing tour by visiting the Morcidera Beach and Dhaninallah Mangrove Park or visit the same on the next day before departing to Port Blair. The journey from Rangat to Port Blair will be 4-6 hours. The trip concludes with a drop in Port Blair on Day 3.
On day 1 your journey starts with a pick-up from your hotel's lobby at around 3:30 AM in the morning. Undergo a short briefing session before starting your journey on the NH 4 or the Great Andaman Trunk Road.
After a drive of about 30 Kilometres you cross the Ferrargunj check post, continue another 15-16 kilometres on the same road to reach the Jirkatang check post where you will have to wait for about half an hour to an hour for your permits to be assigned.
We suggest you to get freshened up (if required) at the Jirkatang check post, as this point on you will be entering the reserve forests and in a convoy formation the vehicle will ply for around 40 odd kilometres without any stoppage enroute. Visitors are prohibited to get down from the vehicle during this part of the journey.
You will get to witness Jarawa Tribal individuals during this part of your journey.
This journey will come to a halt at the Middle Strait Jetty where you will be boarding a vehicle ferry to arrive at the Baratang Jetty also known as the Nilambur Jetty which is on the other side of the creek.
Arrive at the jetty and get freshened up before boarding a fibre boat to the Limestone Caves, the journey to the Limestone Caves is through the thick mangrove forests and takes around 20-25 minutes one way. On arrival at the Limestone Cave's jetty you will have to walk for another 1-1.2 kilometres on paved ways to reach the natural wonders.
Explore the caves for about an hour before boarding the same fibre boat to get back to the Baratang Jetty/Nilambur Jetty.
Once at the Nilambur Jetty you will be boarding a vehicle. This car will drive you through a thin path to the Mud Volcanos of Baratang Island, it takes nearly an hour to reach the Mud Volcanos.
Spend some time at the Mud Volcanos before being transferred to Diglipur for an overnight stay. The drive to Diglipur will take around 5-6.5 Hours.
On the second day you will be waking up early in the morning and be transferred to the Aerial Bay Jetty, the pick-up will be made at around 8:00 or 9:00 AM.
You will be boarding a shared fibre boat to the Ross and Smith Island, explore the islands and spend some leisurely time before heading back to the jetty.
Post arrival at the jetty you shall be visiting the Kalipur Beach which is a famous turtle nestling centre.
Once the tour in Diglipur is complete, break for lunch head to the beautiful township of Rangat.
While in Rangat you may choose to visit the Morcidera Beach and Dhaninallah Mangrove Walkway.
Stay overnight in Rangat.
On the third day you may as well choose to visit the Yeratta Mangrove Park and the Rampur Beach, please check the add-on section for the same. On this day you will have to commence the trip at 6:00 AM if you would want some sightseeing to be done in Rangat.
After the completion of the tour you will be driven back to Port Blair before noon.
The trip ends with a drop in Port Blair.
