The trip starts from Port Blair as you are driven on the Great Andaman Trunk Road to the Jirkatang check post which will lead to the Baratang Island via the reserve forests. This stretch of 40 odd kilometres is wonderful part of the journey where the vehicles travel in a convoy formation without any stoppage, you might get a chance to witness the Jarawa tribesmen and women on this route. Next stop of the journey will be the Middle Strait Jetty from which you shall be boarding a vehicle ferry to the Nilambur Jetty, also known as Baratang Jetty. You now have entered the Middle Andamans Tehsil as you prepare to take a fibre boat on a sharing basis to the Limestone Caves.
